This really is one of the classic rags to riches stories which fuels the American dream. Joe's started out as nothing more than a humble seafood stall on the beach, and has risen from those origins to become a prestige restaurant, and a known name throughout the Western world. It is the stone crab claws dish which has made Joe's famous, and the establishment is credited with its discovery. Remember, this is a very popular place for people to come, so there is inevitably going to be a delay for service at busy times.

There are ways around the problem if you simply can't wait. As with many other restaurants, Joe's Stone Crab has a section next door to the main restaurant where you can pick up food to take out. The climate of Miami often makes it more pleasant to take food away and eat it in the sunshine, especially if the cool of the evening has taken the edge off the heat. The other possibility is that Joe's actually offers to ship food to your destination.

With this service added to the take away and the restaurant, Joe's is providing a service to everyone. Cheap it is not, but if you are looking for a dining experience with a genuine history, this is one not to miss. Just remember that this is a seasonal restaurant in a year round resort. Come to Joe's in the sumer, between May and October, and you will find it closed. Come during Miami's peak season, from October through until May, and you can taste history and luxury at Joe's Stone Crab.
